Immersed

Beginning in 2004, I lived and worked in Norway for about eight years. As I continue to work for a Norwegian company, I’ve maintained frequent visits to this beautiful country. In addition to photography, I’ve always been passionate about music—mainly rock and jazz. In Norway, I discovered free jazz and improvised music, attending numerous concerts and quite a number of jazz festivals. Far removed from the mainstream, these concerts often took place in small venues, allowing the audience to be very close to the musicians.

As my interest in photography grew, it felt natural to bring my camera along to these events. Initially, I took photos simply for documentation. However, over time, I realised I was particularly drawn to capturing musicians while they were deeply immersed in their performance. This realisation ultimately inspired the title of the collection of these images.
